What’s new in the Google Maps 4.4 for Android Update?
|
Google just released an update to their Maps app for Android, bringing it to version 4.4. So far Google has bee releasing a fairly substantial update to this app every month for the past several months. Rather than just talk about the new changes, in the following video I’ve broken down Google Maps based on its four distinct functions (including the new “Places” feature), and demo’d adding a Directions & Navigation shortcut to one of your home screens. pocketnow.com
@xoltrix2005 lmao you’re hilarious, do you understand how hypocritical you sound right now?
Damn it…
If only I had watched your newest vid before I went away for the weekend, I would’ve installed the update even via that darn slow EDGE connection I had in the mountains. Could’ve been very useful.
Thanks anyway for once again bringing me up to speed with my phone, Joe!
I loooooooooooooove the option to place a shortcut to an area using Public Transit!!!! Viva Android… seriously. And thumbs up for not consuming alcohol!
@Flamingneedles I think you forgot AMOLED screens don’t have a backlight.
@Martiinkun Jesus christ man, what’s wrong with you? It was a completely harmless joke about him like to say the word “Tap that” a lot. Seriously, grow up.
@jackfucker1 oh mann i forgot, but i think he was dissing his wife or something
@Flamingneedles I thought there was no back lighting in AMOLED
Actually u would think black is wat will save more, but no… The reason why is the pixels are still lit up from the back light, and there for it still stays on… With white, the pixels will turn off and the backlight will stay on, meaning just the light is on, and it can save power consumption
Most of this was on previous versions….all labs especially…How does white save battery?
Hey, this was the most useful post I’ve come across. I actually had my Evo out and following your instructions. Great video.
Wont the black background save battery life? Black means that the pixel is off so it doesn’t use any power.
Lovely “show off”
I installed it on my WinMo…and I now have, google voice search for first time…so thank you XD
Creepy around 04:00 that you are able to basically “stalk” your friends, hehe.
But cool feature, and a great video. You do an awesome job Joe!
