    Freddy,

Excellent question. Your key requirements that are going to decide the phone for you are the Keyboard, Camera and Browser. The G1 has all these things and are all quite good — it’s a big phone though. Compared to the Sidekick LX though, I prefer the G1, the Sidekick’s browser is garbage and the WinMo OS is gimmicky at best. If you don’t mind a virtual keyboard, the myTouch 3G/HTC Magic is an excellent choice as well.

I’m not really a business person/gmail person(I do have GMail though) but I just want a phone with a touch screen, and a keyboard, decent camera, web browser and IM(crappy, good, I don’t care). Is is still a good phone?

    DrStink,

That’s a great question and I’m not *that* versed in the terms and policies of the market place… I believe applications can be pulled out of the market place very quickly if they come under scrutiny, so as long as you are pulling down established applications you are probably safe.

question about the Android Market – since the Market is uncensored, is it possible for a malicious developer to write an app that is either damaging or even just a major inconvenience?

Excellent review. I’m shocked to see that there aren’t more views – very informative. This review most certainly helped me make up my mind about this phone.

It’s an unfortunate requirement — with the iPhone’s dominance in the mobile-device sector you can’t avoid it. Atleast as a reviewer, the first question I got out of my group of friends when we got the G1 in for review was all “Is it better than the iPhone?” — probably not the right question, and we tried to clarify that in the review, but still a question we get a lot.
