After reading the various (arguably “bogus”) reviews, I finally bought one of these units. They appear to be made by the Chinese company (TECYEA- you can look them up on the web) whose prior model USB battery pack also worked with the iPhone 3Gs. To make a long story short, I’ve tested the Imp500 battery pack and it indeed charges and powers iPods, iPod touches, AND the iPhone 3Gs. Just remember that you have to use the proper USB connector because my “touch” cord doesn’t work with the iPhone 3Gs (but the 3Gs cord does seem to be downwardly compatible with the “touch”). I haven’t attempted to test the true capacity of the unit yet, but if my prior (slightly lower capacity) pack is indicative, it’ll provide at least a couple full recharges for your iPhone/touch. My son took the pack on a long bus trip and he was the only one still listening to music (and watching videos) after the 19hr bus ride (aside from his friends whose iPods he was also able to charge while on the road). My daughter had a similar experience on a trip to Japan. Finally, just in case you’re wondering, the battery pack also charges my Sony PSP, Samsung Instinct, and my other USB powered devices that seem to be less power hungry than the iPod touch and iPhone 3Gs (one of my other 3400mah battery packs will charge all of my USB devices EXCEPT the touches and the iPhone). I can’t vouch for the longevity of this specific unit, but my older “Tecyea” unit is still going strong after two years. I should also note that with a little digging around on the web you might be able to find this unit at a slightly lower price. If you choose this route, be sure to verify that it comes with an AC charging adapter and cord. Some units seem to omit this important “option.” Good luck!

The battery definitely didn’t last as long as I expected. About 25% less capacity. When I asked the company about this, they offered either a 20% discount ($7) or if I shipped it back they would look into it. Given the cost of shipping it back I took the discount.

Overall I’m satisfied with the purchase. The set of adapters cover all the electronic devices my wife and I carry around and the battery has a permanent home in the diaper bag. It’s great not having to worry about conserving battery when on a day trip away from the car charger.

I bought two of these. One in white and one in black.

Initially, I was a bit skeptical as I’ve always been a fan of having a charge on hand for the many toys that I have (Blackberry, Itouch, Ipod, Kindle, etc).

But as I acquire more and more toys, it’s become annoying to carry so many chargers for everything.

I was browsing for a birthday gift for the fiance and ended up getting one for myself because I realized that it’d make my life easier too.

When it arrived, I opened it and it seemed pretty straightforward. There is one wall adapter which has a USB and from there, you would plug in whichever adapter you needed (mini USB, etc).

I did notice that mine did not come 100% fully charged as when I plugged it in, it charged it for about an hour before saying it was full.

I used it on a overnight trip to my parents house. I was flashing low on battery on my Blackberry 9700 and plugged it in. I timed it and it seemed to take about 3 hours to fully charge the BB. Granted, I was using it at the same time (pushing and pulling data which tends to drain the battery).

I also plugged in the Itouch when it was done with the Blackberry and it seemed to take about an hour or two to fully charge it.

The battery was still at ‘full’ charge when I turned it off. I must say I was impressed as I travel pretty frequently and often have to turn off the Itouch or stop playing games as they tend to drain the battery.

I do like that you can do multiple toys but mine can only do one at a time. I thought I had read that you could do multiple but it may have been a higher model #.

Simple and does what it claims. Didn’t fry my toys and that’s all I was wanting.

After hours and hours of tracking a portable charger for my new iPhone 3GS I was fully prepared to the point I had the shopping cart all set for a Mophia product and then I stumbled over this product on accident. Am I glad I did. I do not usually go out of my way to write reviews unless I feel the product and especially the company behind the product warrants it. In this case both warrant the attention and a highly positive review. I have been working with it for several days now and find it a ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE for all you traveling families not just you traveling business folks.

The product is much smaller than I expected it to be as mentioned in the other reviews it is smaller than the iPhone itself and comes with a retractable cable which can also substitute for your CPU plug-in replacing the Apple one. It fully charges in a few hours and is ready to use as advertised.

Family PRO: Extremely adaptable not only will it do the iPhone, iPod Touch, but also your business phones (for those who on vacation you know you do), Nintendo DS Lite, GameBoy…..so picture delay in airport with kids HELLO we can update all their gaming devices and your iPhone/Touch and STILL have juice left over for that flight.

BOTH PRO: With their extra adapators you can leave your phone, iPhone/Touch cables at home the IMP500 has all your needs taken care of in one set of device and attachments…takes up much less space for travel.

BOTH PRO: You can continue to USE your device WHILE it is charging. This is a MAJOR Plus for those long business flights and stays in airports and/or waiting for the hotel room. For families the little ones keep playing and occupied while you figure out contingency plans for food as a result of a delay.

BOTH PRO: Extremely simple to use and and mange…period.

BOTH PRO: It is not fragile nor are there any reasons to be concerned about breaking it while using it…its solid and very well built and constructed.

BOTH PRO: imaxpower Customer service and product support is phenomenal. I order the product and received it within 2 days…did I mention it was FREE SHIPPING. I was thinking a week, and I had it in time to use for an out of town family get together. I also screwed up and ordered the wrong parts and they were extremely accommodating for my stupidity. All my email questions were answered within 30 MINUTES…HELLO, CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSE WITHIN 30 MINS…enough said there .

BOTH CON: The only thing I bad that I have to say about this product is that it does not come with a simple case of some kind to keep the cable and adapters with the IMP500 in for ease of traveling…THAT’S IT. Certainly no reason not to buy it.

So there you have it an extremely flexible device that will do everything it says it will do and more..what are you waiting for do what I did by a his and hers model. You can keep one in the family car for those restaurant trips when the kids need their gaming device and its not charged even though they “swore” they did.

Works as advertised on YouTube. I’m sure it can charge at least three iPhones from 20 percent battery condition (red bar inside battery icon). It charges a brand new iPhone 3Gs (showing only emergency use power) in just over an hour to full charge.

The batter pack itself is not that heavy, maybe the same weight as the iPhone. The included charging cable doubles as input (charging IMP500 from AC outlet 110-240v) and output to iPhone with USB A and standard Apple dock connector. A mini USB connector and another type of smaller USB connector are included. With the mini USB connector it can charge a array of electronic devices, e.g. newer TomTom GPSs (GO 920, XL 300 series, TomTom One, etc.) some cellphones, etc.

I bought three, two for the kids’ iPhones. This battery pack sets me free from the tyranny of looking for an AC outlet before end of the day. It’s like having at least three days’ power in my pocket. Used to carry a USB AC plug and cable but not anymore.
