@thebsdguy As far as I’ve heard, Sense is the only interface that works better on Android than the default one. MotoBlur, TouchWiz, and whatever else manufacturers are tacking on only slow down the OS, slow firmware upgrades, and make the whole experience more fragmented than it should be. But yeah, HTC’s Sense looks pretty slick.

@legr8est1234 It’s gotten great reviews so far, and the TouchWiz interface has been improved substantially. I still prefer HTC Sense on my Evo.

@thebsdguy I haven’t looked much at the Galaxy, but I know Samsung has messed up a lot of good hardware with some really shitty software like their stupid TouchWiz interface that managed to make Android (and Windows Mobile) a lot worse than it was by default.

I’m too lazy to look if they did anything like that to the Galaxy S, but I despise and avoid Samsung’s phones just for their tendency to put utter crap on otherwise great devices.

@legr8est1234 Android is really convoluted with different carriers and phone manufacturers wanting to shove their crapware into the phones. I have no idea why they won’t put Android 2.2 in that phone. As far as Android phones from AT&T go, I’d get the Samsung Galaxy S.

@thebsdguy I know, I just said Android instead of Google. But the point is that Google should have more of a say in what version of their OS manufacturers use and not let them release phones that are running old software, since it’s bad to have new phones with varying versions (from 2.2 to 1.5 right now) of an OS. It confuses the user and it makes it unnecessarily difficult to understand what features a phone can and can’t have.

@legr8est1234 Android (or more appropriately, Google) doesn’t release the phones. The manufacturers for Android phones are HTC, Samsung, Dell, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, LG and others. Google does not produce any Android phones, they simply offer the Android software.

The specs seems on par with the iPhone and if I hadn’t read it was a Droid device, I’d swear it was an iPhone (3GS not a 4). I mean, I’m sure that’s what Dell is going for, but Android 1.5, then again I’m sure if anyone does buy it they’ll figure a way around it. (If there’s a will, there’s a way, if you can run Android on an iPhone you can run Android 2.1 or 2.2 on this thing.)

it’s a rip off. I expect to have a phone to update if the option is installed. If i found out that my phone has the option to upgrade firmware and it will never update, whats the point of even buying it.

It’s like buying a mac or pc. knowing full well that your computer is under the spec’s that are necessary for future update’s like snow leopard or windows 7.

It doesnt look like too bad of a phone, but most of the time, if you are on AT&T it is because you own an iPhone.
