CM6 Development Continues: EVO Now Has Its Own Release Candidate, Others Bumped to RC2

Cyanogen and company’s ambitious (and appreciated) efforts to bring Froyo to as many handsets as possible continues with their latest string of releases this morning (or late last night depending on who you are). The custom-cooked FroYo ROM based off of AOSP 2.2 has been in release candidate status for a while now, but it’s just gotten an RC2 tag for some of the team’s primary targets: the T-Mobile G1/HTC Dream, the MyTouch 3G/HTC Magic, the Motorola Droid, and the Google Nexus One.

For other handsets – like the HTC EVO 4G – they’ve finally offered up the very first release candidate (with a few bugs – namely the lack of 4G, HDMI, and FM Radio support – though it’s said they’re working hard on getting that patched up before the day is over). CyanogenMod6 brings to the EVO everything that FroYo has to offer: JIT, Apps2SD, Flash Mobile 10.1 beta, and more. For the near future, he’s working on bringing full HDMI-out to the masses to work alongside full Bluetooth HID support.

A full changelog for CM6 can be found at the project’s github repository. Downloads and instructions can be had here.
